The “Planctonarium” is a hybrid, multifunctional space that invites us to immerse ourselves in the microscopic world of phytoplankton “blooms.” This springtime biological phenomenon manifests as a sudden proliferation of phytoplankton in the ocean, regenerating the atmosphere we breathe through the photosynthesis of these microorganisms.

Within the “Planctonarium,” the silhouettes of phytoplankton are reinterpreted, taking the form of objects levitating in a chromatic atmosphere, immersing us in the ocean’s “water column” where top and bottom, near and far, merge.

The “Planctonarium” is divided into a constellation of spaces: an exhibition featuring ornamental pieces from the “Artifices Chlorophylliens” project; a space for contemplation, focused on luminous installations; and the “Microscopists’ Table,” designed to welcome the public to creative workshops centered on observing phytoplankton under a microscope.

The design project was produced in partnership with Aggloplast and Sealabx; the “Artifices Chlorophylliens” collection was created in partnership with the Manufacture de Sèvres, Procédés Chénel, and the Institut de Biologie de l’École Nationale Supérieure (IBENS).
